I bank with Royal Bank of Scotland since I moved up here from England. They local branch I'm with have been very helpful and the staff are very friendly. Unfortunately 6 months after I moved here my father died. Royal Bank couldn't have been more helpful and kind to me but Abbey in Glasgow with whom my Dad has investments have been very awkward and difficult to deal with. The branch staff have been brilliant and have done their best to help, but even they can't seem to get anywhere with them. They have even sent a complaint direct from the branch to the head office asking for replies to be sent to my solicitors, myself and their own office, without success. My solicitors in England have now written to Glasgow informing them that if no reply is forthcoming in the New Year they will be getting in touch with the Ombudsman to see if he can get anywhere with them. Until we have a reply from Abbey I can't finalise my Dad's Estate, and have the moneys invested released to my solicitors. We obtained the Grant of Probate in September 2008 and this was sent to them, in 2009 they lost the grant and a further copy had to be sent to them, and over 12 months later we are still waiting to finalise my Dad's estate close the investment accounts and bring matters to a close. I hope by the end of February when it will have been 2years since my dad died that it will have been sorted out!
