Bank Accounts stories
A few years ago, I wrote a cheque from our joint account, which would have put it into the red. (I meant it to come from my personal account.) Rather than create unnecessary charges, the bank manager rang me up to check my intentions. Then she took the funds from the correct account without my having to return to the bank or fill in any more forms. This is the kind of service all banks should be offering. And, on the subject of bonuses, I cannot believe that anyone deserves any remuneration for what amounts to doing their job well. Why is there an assumption that you won't do your job well unless someone is waving a bunch of fivers in front of your nose? Doesn't it occur to anyone that some of us do a good job because we take a pride in what we do? End the bonus culture.
